Snap-Lock 1-2-3 Bottom Carton Dieline Generator
Generate production-calibrated parametric dielines for Snap-Lock 1-2-3 (Houghland Bottom / FEFCO 0215) cartons. Four interlocking bottom flaps fold sequentially into an exceptionally strong, self-reinforcing floor without requiring tape or bottom gluing. Proof folding kinematics in interactive 3D WebGL and export to 1:1 vector PDF, DXF, and layered SVG.
Anatomy of a Snap-Lock 1-2-3 Carton
Also known as a 1-2-3 Houghland Bottom, this carton style is chosen whenever packaging weight exceeds the retention threshold of standard tuck-end bottoms. The bottom flaps interlock in three manual steps:
Step 1: Slotted Base Flap (Front Wall)
Folds inward first at 90°. Features 45° lead-in chamfers and an engineered central slot designed to receive the locking tongue.
Step 2: Two Stepped Support Dust Flaps (Side Walls)
Fold inward at 90° over the base flap. Their stepped ears create an internal bridge that distributes product weight across the carton perimeter.
Step 3: Rear Tongue Flap with Retention Barbs
Folds inward at 90° and pushes past the side flaps into the base slot. Lateral retention barbs snap securely underneath the base flap, locking the bottom floor rigidly in place.
Unlike standard tuck flaps that rely solely on friction against the side walls, Snap-Lock bottoms convert downward product weight into lateral tension, preventing accidental bottom blowout.
Standard Specifications
When to Choose Snap-Lock 1-2-3 Bottom
Dense Glass Candle Jars
Glass tumbler candle vessels carry significant downward concentrated mass. Snap-Lock eliminates bottom sag and blowout.
Craft Spirits & Wine Bottles
Tall liquor bottles, gin flasks, and gourmet olive oils require high vertical rigidity and trustworthy base retention.
Hardware & Industrial Parts
Heavy steel fasteners, small power tools, and electronic meters assemble quickly on packaging benches with zero tape.
